What I can build for you

Nine things I do, all of them by me from the first call to launch and after. Every project gets a fixed quote once we've talked.

Services

Custom business software

Software built around how your business runs, so it can grow without the admin growing with it: internal tools, customer portals, dashboards and automation that connect the systems you already use.

  • Repetitive admin automated: quotes, invoices, reports and follow-ups
  • Your CRM, accounts, stock and payments talking to each other
  • Portals and dashboards for staff, customers and suppliers
  • Built to scale, from one team to several offices

For businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and off-the-shelf toolsGet a quote

Booking systems

Online booking, payments and an admin your team runs, built around how you actually take bookings. For transfers, events, tables and anything an off-the-shelf tool can't quite handle.

  • Online booking and card payments, with deposits if you take them
  • Availability, pricing and approval rules built around how you work
  • An admin your staff will actually enjoy using
  • Confirmation and reminder emails that arrive

WordPress development

WordPress sites your team can actually update, from a five-page business site to a family of recruitment-agency sites.

  • A custom theme rather than a page builder, so pages stay fast
  • Editing set up so your team changes only what they should
  • A shop, job listings or bookings added when you need them
  • Updates and security patches handled for you

Shopify development

Shopify stores and custom themes, with sections you edit yourself in the theme editor. Good for shops that also run events or bookings.

  • A custom theme built around your products and brand
  • Sections your team can rearrange in the theme editor
  • Events or bookings alongside the shop when you need them
  • Moved from another platform without losing products or customers

Payload CMS development

Fast, modern sites on Payload and Next.js, with content models shaped around your editors rather than around a theme.

  • Content shaped around your editors rather than a theme
  • Drafts and previews before anything goes live
  • Your content in your own database, with no per-seat fees
  • Moved across from WordPress without losing your rankings

Rebuilds and migrations

Moving off WordPress, Squarespace or an old build, with redirects and content carried over so you keep your Google rankings.

  • Content, images and users moved across
  • Redirects for every old address, so your rankings carry over
  • A faster site on a modern stack
  • A launch planned around your quiet time

Support and care plans

Updates, fixes and small changes each month from the person who built your site, so there's always someone who knows it.

  • Updates, backups and security patches
  • Fixes and small changes from the person who built it
  • Monitoring, so problems are spotted before your customers notice
  • Help by email, straight from me

Secure VPS hosting

Fast, locked-down hosting on a server of your own, run by the developer who built your site. No shared hosting, no support tickets bouncing between companies.

  • Your own virtual private server, not a crowded shared one
  • Firewalled, patched and backed up, with Cloudflare in front
  • Monitored around the clock by the person who built it

App review and rescue

A fixed-price review of an app built quickly, by an AI tool or by someone else: what's risky, what's fine, and what to fix first.

  • Code, database rules, hosting and packages checked
  • A plain-English report of what's risky and what to fix first
  • Fixes done for you, if you want them

Secure VPS hosting

Cheap shared hosting puts your site on a server with hundreds of strangers, all fighting over the same memory. I host the sites and apps I build on their own virtual private servers instead: fast, locked down and looked after by the person who wrote the code.

Your customers get pages that load in a blink. You get a server nobody else can slow down or break into, and you never have to work out whether a problem is the hosting or the website. It's both, and it's me.

Your own server

Dedicated CPU and memory that no neighbour can eat into, so somebody else's busy day never becomes a slow day for you.

Fast from the first byte

Modern NVMe servers, code that's cached and kept warm, and Cloudflare serving pages and images from close to every visitor. The kind of speed Google notices too.

Locked down from day one

Firewalled to everything but the web, key-only logins, automatic security updates and SSL certificates that renew themselves.

Shielded at the edge

Cloudflare sits in front to soak up bots, spam and attacks before they ever get near your server.

Backed up every night

Databases and uploads copied off the server every night at minimum, or more often on higher support tiers, so a bad day is an inconvenience, not a disaster.

Updates without downtime

New versions go live in seconds and are only switched in once they're ready. Your customers never see a half-built page.

Watched around the clock

Uptime monitoring tells me the moment something's wrong, usually before you'd ever notice.

One person to call

The developer who built your site also runs its server. One email, one person, and it gets fixed.

What I host

If I built it, I can host it, and if someone else built it, I can usually take it on. These are the sites and apps running on servers I look after.

  1. LaravelPostgreSQLStripe

    Web apps and booking platforms

Laravel apps with their queues and scheduled jobs running alongside, so confirmation emails go out and reminders fire on time, every time.

  2. Payload CMSNext.jsPostgreSQL

    Payload and Next.js sites

The app and its database on the same fast server, with pages cached and refreshed the moment an editor hits publish.

  3. WordPressWooCommercePHP

    WordPress and WooCommerce

Tuned PHP with caching and a hardened setup, so WordPress is quick and never low-hanging fruit for the bots that hunt for old installs.

  4. AstroCloudflare

    Static and content sites

Sites built ahead of time and served straight from Cloudflare's global network, for when a server of their own would be overkill.

A good fit if you

  • Run a business of any size, from a local firm to a global brand, and want one senior developer who knows your site inside out
  • Need something an off-the-shelf tool can't quite do, like bookings or a custom admin
  • Want a fixed quote and a clear plan before anything starts
  • Plan to keep improving the site after launch

Probably not the right fit if you

  • Need a site live in a few days
  • Are looking for the cheapest price rather than something built to last
  • Need a large team working on your project full time
  • Only need design, though I can introduce you to a designer I trust

Not sure which you need?

Tell me what isn't working and I'll tell you what I'd do, including when the answer is a cheaper tool and not a developer.

Tell me about your project

A few lines is plenty. I reply within 24 hours, and you'll be talking to me from the first message.
